Cabin (3200 sq. ft.) in Rainy Lake, MN
0 miles from Rainy Lake
Come and just relax in our special part of the world. You can smell the fresh air, look at the stars explore the Canadian Shield, and fish/hunt or sightsee on this wonderful lake. Make memories that will last for generations. Oh and have fun, Lots and Lots of fun!!! I built this magnificent 3,000 plus sq. ft. Hand-Scribed Western Red Cedar Log Cabin/Lodge over 3 years starting in 1988. Our one of a kind log cabin has a glorious southern exposure too. The Cabin is equipped with all the lavish amenities you could ever need. We are on an island a short 1 mile hop from the mainland which makes us allot more private and secluded than most rentals. We are not on the main drag in town or right next door to a lodge/bar or marina's gas dock, so your stay will be more peaceful and pleasant. This Cabin or as some would say Lodge, will luxuriously accommodate up to 8 guests. The lodge has two loft bedrooms with 3 queen beds, and a master bedroom with one king. Amenities include full stocked kitchen with a dish washer, Jen-aire gas range, 30 cubic ft fridge with cold water/ice maker, dining room, great room, 2 rock fireplaces, 2 full bathrooms the master equipped with jacuzzi tub & walk in shower and indoor sauna, washer/dryer, 4 TV's w/ satellite, sound system, and over 2000 square feet of wrap around decks, with a large Weber gas barbecue and a Bradly smoker. Bring your own boats and fish or go sightseeing on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. The cabin also comes with a small boat & motor, a canoe, there is a large dock with electrical power service, swim ladder, water toys, and water slide for the kids. There is also a primitive wood burning sauna at the main dock and a fire pit on the point. A caretaker (on call 24hrs) will check in daily to address any concerns or maybe just give a little local advice if you would like. One day fishing trip/sightseeing excursion with either myself, my son, or one of my hand picked local guides is included with this weekly pkg. Optional chef and fishing guide service for part or all of your stay available upon request if booked far enough in advance.

Cottage in Ranier, MN
0.1 miles from Rainy Lake
This rustic cottage right on the shore of Rainy Lake in the village of Ranier is the perfect basecamp for exploring the natural wonders of Northern Minnesota and Voyageur's National Park--or just kicking back, unplugging and hanging out with the locals. In the Davis family for nearly 100 years, this waterfront cabin features knotty pine paneling and huge windows overlooking the lake in both the living room and porch. A deck that opens off the porch will be your new favorite spot for catching spectacular Sand Bay sunsets from spring to fall. A wide lawn runs down to the breakwater, where you can swim in the cold, clear water of the Rainy, or sit around the fire pit right on the shoreline. The Davis House is a great place to relax and spend time with your family, fish the Rainy (no dock on the property, but we can help you find one if you need it), snowmobile (there's a groomed trail just one block away that you can sled to right from the house) or rent long-term for local area work. Kids love the nearby beach, swimming off the breakwater and exploring the shoreline. A Grumman canoe, paddles, life-preservers and other water toys are yours to use at the house, as well as a picnic table, garage (perfect for our winter guests), two vintage Schwinns and almost anything else you'll need to enjoy your stay in the Rainy Lake Country. The friendly municipal liquor store (the Ranier Muni) is just a three-block walk away. There's an ice cream parlor just down the shoreline at Tara's Wharf, along with fresh-brewed beer at Loony's Brew, a boat-launch ramp, the new Cantilever Distillery, and dining at the Rainy Lake Grill. The entire expanse of Rainy Lake--with its thousands of islands, Voyageur's National Park, renowned walleye and bass fishing--is right outside your door. And if you just want solitude or a quiet place to write your memoirs, Ranier has long been a haven for writers and painters and artists of every kind.

House (1800 sq. ft.) in Ranier, MN
0.2 miles from Rainy Lake
Nestled on beautiful Rainy Lake, on the US/Canadian border, is The Lake House. Owned by Bill and Terry Lahmayer since 1983, this very unique home is situated in the quaint, historic, lakeside village of Ranier, MN, just two miles east of International Falls. Just 50 feet from the water's edge, The Lake House offers stunning sunsets and lake views. Directly across the lake is Ontario Canada. A private, 44ft. dock, lakeside fire pit, and sand-bottom swimming are yours to enjoy. Built in 1936, The Lake House is tastefully decorated in a mix of traditional and vintage furnishings and comfortably accommodates 6-10 guests. A stone's throw away is Ranier Beach,  Loony's Brew Pub, Tara's Warf ice cream shop, and our local Fishing Hall of Fame fishing guide -- Woody's Fairly Reliable Guide Service. A public boat ramp is right there as well for convenient boat launching.  A few more blocks away is the Ranier Municiple tavern, train depot, post office, darling community building, and wonderful Ranier Park. In winter, a snowmobile trail runs through town, and Ranier boasts two ice rinks (one for pick-up hockey games and the other for free skating), as well as a sliding hill for the kiddies. Voyageurs National Park, the only national park accessible only by water, is a mere 8 miles east. So whether you are looking to enjoy some fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming, canoeing, biking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, skating, or just relaxing, we have it all! It is our desire to bless others with the opportunity for a wonderful getaway on Rainy Lake and all that The Lake House has to offer. So come and spend a few days, a week, or even longer, with us! (Maybe you will even get to experience the incredible Northern Lights!) Fun fact! Although built as a home in the l930s, the original owners, Merville and Helen Trompeter, converted it into a restaurant in the l950s. Named the Twin Elms -- "Home of hot biscuits", Helen herself did the cooking and baking. People even came by boat for some of Helen's delicious fare! We have incorporated much of the history of the house and the area, into our decorating.

Cabin (1310 sq. ft.) in Kabetogama, MN
6.8 miles from Rainy Lake
This cabin is nestled in tall white pines with expansive south facing views into Voyageurs National Park. The 1310 ft cabin is rustic with half log siding and a pine wood interior. It is a .36 acre lot with smoothed granite outcroppings and a solid rock granite shoreline that somewhat gradually slopes into the water. The dock is superb with 13-15 feet of deep cold water right at the end of the dock. You can catch walleyes, sauger, northern pike, perch and bass right from the dock. The dock has electrical power for charging your batteries and a light. The property is very close to Chief Woodenfrog campground (we are just on the next point south) and you can use the boat launch there and park overnight if needed. You can also moor your boat on our dock, as it is protected from the wind and we have a secure way for you to tie it off on three points. The cabin itself is comfortable with lots of windows and a large wood deck with a Weber charcoal grill. It is decorated with a nice homey cabin decor. There is a fresh water tank (1500 gallons) and the water is high quality, treated, drinking water from International Falls. We think 6 people is the maximum capacity. It has 4 beds plus two pull out sleeper couches, so there are 6 individual beds if you count the sleeper couches. There are 4 separate sleeping areas. It only has 1 bathroom and a limit of 1500 gallons of water - that is a limitation and the reason we recommend 6. BR#1 - Queen bed. Water view. BR#2 - Full double bed size bunk beds. Sleeping area 3 - Pull out couch, double bed size, awesome views. This is also the game room. Sleeping area 4 - Queen bed and a pull out couch, double size. Good views. In the main room that adjoins the kitchen. This is the best room for early risers. The two bedrooms are totally private, each with its own closet, and the other sleeping areas are somewhat private, except that people will need to pass through them to get to the bathroom during the night. No matter which room you sleep in, you will wake up to great views of the lake. It is a good feeling, as is a morning cup of coffee out on the end of the dock. As mentioned above, there is one bathroom with a tub/shower and a stacked full size washer and dryer. The kitchen has a range, oven, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker, one crock pot and an assortment of pans and cooking utensils. There is enough parking in the driving area for 3 cars. There is a nice sized fire pit down near the lake for a late night campfire. The lake is a paradise(24,000 acres, 80 ft deep) with direct water connection to Namakan (24,000 acres, 150 ft deep ), Sand Point (8400 acres 184 ft deep) and Crane Lake (300 acres 80 ft deep). All of these lakes can be accessed directly by boat. You can also go over a boat portage through Kettle Falls and into Rainy Lake. Most of these lakes share a border with Canada. Wildlife is abundant, cabins are not. It is easy to get out in a secluded quiet bay where you are alone in nature. This is a very pristine wilderness area and National Park. Plan to spend some time out on the water. No cable TV service is provided, but there is free wifi up to 12 Mbps and a TV monitor with a Google Chromecast connected to it so that you can cast your Netflix, YouTubeTV, or Hulu account to the monitor. There are some restaurants on the lake that you can access by car or boat as well as some nice hikes out on the Kabetogama peninsula (water access to trail head). There is a lot to see. Find out more at the Voyageurs National Park visitor center.

Cabin (1600 sq. ft.) in Orr, MN
33.6 miles from Rainy Lake
Experience the solitude and beauty of the Boundary Waters with the comforts of home in this new log cabin on Winchester Lake. Truly off the grid, this cabin offers a rustic experience with the convenience of refrigeration and power. The cabin is solar powered with automatic generator backup. With no phone or internet, you really 'get away' from technology distractions. The cabin offers one bedroom on the main floor, a large loft and two bedrooms on the lower level. The loft has two futon couches that can convert to beds for additional sleeping. There is a 3/4 bath on the main floor and a full bath in the lower level. Cabin offers a deck with gas grill and seating. Take in the evening sounds of nature as you warm by the campfire and roast a marshmallow or two. Firewood supplied. On this remote Boundary Waters style lake we generally find ourselves the only ones on the lake. So that great fishing spot is always available. This lake is full of small mouth bass, you can barely get your pole in before there is a fish on your line. Over a five year range the DNR stocked this deep lake with over 15,000 lake trout. Other fish include northern pike, walleye, perch and sunfish. The lake offers limited boat access. A 14ft. fishing boat with motor and a Canoe are included with rental. Up in the north woods, we regularly see eagles and loons while enjoying the lake. In the evening you may hear the hoot of an owl or a wolf howling at the moon. Moose, deer, bear, beavers, and other small critters find their homes around our property. Whether a couple looking to get back to nature or a family looking to spend quality time, your time at Winchester Lake is sure to be memorable. If there is a deer hunting party I do have other private land that is available for free to hunt. I have 84 acres a few miles out with a cabin and 47 acres by the river. Let me know and I will show you private land to hunt. I do have a private bar in town with 4 bedrooms above the bar for longer staying parties that I may have available for use. Other things to note This area is a hunters paradise and the people in the area are so friendly you will fall in love with the town just like I did.

The 11,000 acre Pelican Lake is excellent for crappie and bass fishing, boating or water sports. Need a boat? We can rent you our pontoon for about $700 a week! It is 21 foot pontoon with a 50 horse motor & our caretaker will meet you at the dock with the pontoon to give you tips on the operation.... or you can bring your own boats or jet skis to fish or ski. There are spots for 8 cars to park on the mainland at Deer Lodge and a dock to easily load up the boat when you arrive Strand Island is about a 5 minute boat ride from the dock at Deer Lodge... or about 1 mile from mainland. The island will be all yours to roam, fish, play or pick raspberries in total seclusion. Kayak around the 9500 feet of shoreline or out to the nearby state park on Big Island- a 210 acre nearby island owned by the State of Mn. You have the entire island to yourself- no other cabins on the island- play, explore, hike or fish one of several private bays. There are two kayaks there for your use, an old wood row boat and a flat bottom metal row boat. There is large grass field as well... to play wiffle ball or football for the kids. Enjoy the stars, the call of the loons and amazing sun sets at Strand Island!

Cabin in Cook, MN
34.4 miles from Rainy Lake
Boat-access means you cannot drive to this property, you must get there by boat. Secluded, private, great fishing get-away cabin and camp for memorable times with buddies. Located on Elbow Lake 14 miles north of Cook, MN, just 5 minutes from public boat launch for Lake Vermilion. This cabin is a BOAT-ACCESS property 2 minutes directly across the lake from Elbow Lake Lodge, 5 minutes from two separate public boat launches at either end of the lake. 2 Bedrooms (1 double), (1 double futon + bunk bed set). Separate loft with sleeping cots. In total 6-8 can sleep off the floor. Kitchen with propane refrigerator, stove and propane lights in all rooms. Large screened porch, deck and fire pit with picnic table. Fish cleaning table, gas grill, dock and lake water system. Clean odor-free outhouse. All are welcome, but this is a remote and rustic experience. It is very clean and comfortable. You must provide your own boat and be comfortable with it as your means of transportation in any weather/water conditions. Kitchen is fully furnished with dishes, silverware, cookware, glasses, etc. Bed sheets and towels are also provided. Haul drinking water in from the mainland with your groceries for your stay and never go across the lake to "civilization" - just enjoy the seclusion. Get away from technology and enjoy the solitude of the woods, the lake and the fishing. No TV or internet access. Cell service is spotty at the cabin - it is good across the lake at Elbow Lake Lodge. The lake is a "conservation lake" so there are not navigation buoys that mark hazards. Maps are available to identify hazard areas for you. The lake has no slots for fishing, anything you catch can be kept at your discretion. Elbow Lake Lodge directly across the lake is a beautiful facility and it hosts a restaurant, bar, small convenience shop as well as bait and boat gas if you need or want any of those items. You can call them and possibly make arrangements for boat launch and parking your car/trailer while there if you choose to not use one of the public launches. Dogs are welcome but the property backs up to state forest land so if they take off you might not get them back. Cigar smoking (or other) is allowed outside on the screened porch, at the bon fire pit, etc. A lake water system pumps water up from the lake for washing dishes and cleaning off, but not drinking. Dock is wide and sturdy with a depth at the end near 6'. Property sits on a point with great views in all directions. Swim and float off the front point - it is a rocky shoreline so the depth changes frequently. You will want to wear water shoes off the point but it is a great spot to bathe and relax with a cocktail. If the weather is cool or damp, the cabin has a large wood-burning stove for heat.

Nestled comfortably in Saunder's Bay with all the amenities of home this lake front property offers visitors a private location on Pelican Lake. It is centrally located within the best fishing and hunting areas in Northern Minnesota. Resting on over 10,000 acres of lake and 50 Islands makes for some unbeatable fishing. It's isolated location will give visitors that away from the crowds feel yet with direct access to the activities or interests that makes lake front living so enjoyable. You can water ski here, or if requested, rent one of the available fishing boats and catch walleyes, northern pike, crappies on one of the best fisheries around, most can be caught right off the dock. Bring your golf clubs and play at some of the area golf courses. Visitors may also use either the paddle boat or canoe to explore the bay or venture out onto greater Pelican Lake. The cabin features a screened-in veranda that looks out onto the lake providing a comfortable living space to enjoy your meals, play cards or read a book. Personally, I find the cabin a place where I can kick back and enjoy life's simple pleasures. Where the inherent calming effects of nature can soothe the stresses in our lives and clear the senses. A place to enjoy the company of friends and family. The Superior National Forest and the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area makes this an excellent home base location for visitors interested in exploring Minnesota's Voyagers Country. The area surrounding the cabin offers an ideal habitat for a variety of birds and animals big and small. Visitors are likely to see Bald Eagles, Ospreys, beavers, otters or hear the wolves. Visit the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary and get up close to black bears just minutes away or visit The International Wolf Center or The North American Bear Center in Ely, MN. This bar was built in 1906 so there is some really cool character. The main bar area has a kitchen in the back with a old log bar to eat around. There is also an island with lights above to eat at. There is a propane fireplace, but the furnace will get it plenty warm. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms with one queen and 3 double beds. Washer and dryer is upstairs also. When you walk upstairs as you go in you will feel a slight unevenness with a slant to one side when you walk in. I don't notice it anymore, but after 100 years this would be expected. There is a park across the way for kids, but mostly this place is for adults. The property is not child proof and probably not the best for toddlers. This is more of an adult setting, but great for taking young kids hunting since we do have video games and pool table.
